True North Celebrates Pride

True North is PROUD to serve all individuals regardless of age, gender identity, or gender expression. We strive to respect our differences and the experiences that make each of us unique. By standing against shame & stigma, and showing our support for those vulnerable to threats of violence, not only does True North celebrate pride, we work towards an environment free from abuse for all.

To Celebrate Pride 2024

This year, we reflected on Pride Month by asking ourselves, “What does Pride mean to you?”

Pride Month is about Safety

Pride is a beacon of Solidarity

Pride is Love

Pride is Support

Pride is a Celebration

We also walked with the Strathmore Pride Community in support of their Pride Parade & Paint Party!

We were honoured to sponsor the PURPLE stripe of the Pride Crosswalk.

In addition to representing “Spirit” in the original Pride flag, Purple also represents Family Violence Awareness 💜.

In our vision of interrupting the cycle of abuse through empowerment to create a safe environment for ALL, we were so excited to support this event that promotes inclusivity, safety, respect, and the belief that no one should have to live with violence. 💜

A HUGE thank you to our community

Thank you to all who joined and everyone who travelled by with words of love and encouragement! You make Strathmore a kinder place to live!

This was a community event, led by the community, for the community, sponsored by the community, in support of community members! Thank you to the organizers for all their hard work and efforts!

2023 True North celebrates Pride

Celebrating Pride at a Distance

2020: Social Distancing won’t stop us from showing our pride!

“What does pride mean to you?

Pride is about social justice, equal access, and bringing people together. It’s about reducing barriers and creating more opportunities for all people to be safe, be themselves, and thrive in our global community. Pride is about equality. It is also about equity. Pride makes us, at Wheatland Crisis Society, ask, “How can we support all people to have a level playing field?” Our shelter has always welcomed all people and always will. We are here to keep all people safe and we are honoured to be a part of the 30th anniversary event this year. Happy Pride Calgary.

Pride, in one word to me, is powerful. Activism. Equality. Strength. Love. Pride means to me, togetherness. Acceptance. Pride to me, means belonging. Connection.”

In 2019, True North

made a BIG splash at the Calgary Parade!
