Charity Gala 2024
Honoring the past, providing support in the present, and awakening hope for the future.
WOW!!! Thank you to all who supported, shared, and attended our 2023 Roaring 20’s Charity Gala!
We are so moved by your support; it was an amazing evening of story-sharing, relationship-building, advocacy, and music. And you all looked amazing! You showed up in full force, dressed-to-impress, and full of love, energy, and generosity.
This year’s theme, the Roaring 20’s, served as a vibrant backdrop for advocating against family violence, with the colour purple acting as a powerful symbol of awareness, remembrance, and community solidarity during Family Violence Awareness Month.
With your help, we successfully fundraised for our Emergency Shelter’s programs and services – you made a big impact! Thank you for making a difference in your community and making a statement that YOU are here to interrupt the cycle of abuse to create a safe environment for all.
Thank you to our 2024 Community Gala Planning Committee for all your hard work & dedication as advocates for True North Society. The gala was beautiful!

Thank you, Sandra Sutter & RobIng Productions for sharing your music with us, A Woman’s Voice
Produced by Calgary recording artist Sandra Sutter and directed by Rob Ing of Rob Ing Productions (Airdrie), A Woman’s Voice explores the circumstances of four women who all face and overcome challenges encountered by many women at some point in their lives. This short film is set against the backdrop of three of Sutter’s songs and features debut acting performances of many of her friends and relatives.
“This project was motivated by a sincere desire to tell women they are not alone in facing the many complex and emotional challenges of domestic abuse, bullying, self-esteem and loneliness,” said Sutter, who relied entirely on family and friends to produce this film. “It’s so real and relatable that there was no hesitation when I called for volunteers. Everyone was more than willing to contribute their time and talents to the making of this film, which we hope will provide a sense of empowerment to those who are struggling.”

Thank you Kari Weber Young (of Contagious Living) & Eileen Black for sharing your stories.
“One less stranger in the world” are not just words to Kari Weber Young, they are her truth. People are her passion and enriching each life is her mission. Loneliness in a world of so much opportunity is a topic Kari often engages with as she shares openly that humans are not meant to do life alone.
