November is Family Violence Awareness Month. During this time, True North participates in the Purple Ribbon Campaign.
True North encourages everyone to proudly wear a purple ribbon to increase awareness of violence in our community, support victims of violence, and call for the end of the cycle of abuse.
Alberta has the third highest rate of self-reported spousal violence among Canadian provinces, yet family violence is preventable. November is Family Violence Prevention Month (FVPM) in Alberta. It is a time to increase awareness of the warning signs of family violence and the resources and supports available so we can work together to end family violence and build healthier relationships in our communities (alberta.ca).
During the month of November, you can find our purple ribbons stationed around many local businesses! Anyone is encouraged to take a ribbon – a donation is appreciated but not necessary. 100% of the proceeds will be used to support True North’s programs and services that support those impacted by abuse.
