Public Education: Meeting the Community’s Needs
True North’s domestic violence prevention & intervention programming increases awareness and reduces tolerance of violence and abuse in the community. Education programming allows us to share reliable information, ask questions, explore “taboo” subjects, and acquire safety tools. There is nothing like the “Aha” moment when a participant learns something new that can help them make healthier, safer choices!
Our Public Educators are available to schools, clubs, community groups, welfare agencies, faith communities, and more. True North provides age-appropriate workshops and presentations on the issue of family abuse.

Public Education topics include:
-
- ACWS Leading Change

- How to Solve Conflicts,
- Self-Esteem,

Significant research has found that positive childhood experiences contribute to long-term positive health outcomes. Protective factors of individuals & communities, such as social-emotional competence, healthy coping strategies, support in times of need, and supportive social connections, help individuals and families to thrive!
True North’s Public Education programming has successfully:
- shared valuable information about healthy relationships. family abuse, and domestic violence.
- supported positive/protective factors through education and facilitation.
- offered or refered individuals and families to support services reflecting their unique needs.
- provided health and safety materials about abuse and other resources in the local community (mental health, food bank, financial support).
- created a sense of belonging and support in the overall community.
- encouraged individual resiliency!
