We were thrilled to have you at this year’s golf tournament at The Track, Langdon where had a blast and rasied nearly $9000 for True North’s emergency domestic violence shelter!
Event Details:
We welcomed golfers to The Track, Langdon for a day of friendly competition, great food, and the chance to make a difference. This year we were excited to pilot some new & fun mini-challenges throughout the course!
Mini Putters reminded us of what this competition is all about – raising funds for those impacted by abuse. Using child-sized putters, golfers were challenged to put themselves in the teeny-tiny shoes of our smallest survivors.
Sponsored by Papa John’s Strathmore, Anything but a Putter challenged players to finish their hole using the wackiest tools – a hockey stick, a umbrella, a ruler and more!
Show & Yell challenged golfers to show & yell their support for True North for a chance to win 2 tickets to our upcoming 1980’s-themed gala!

Drive for a Difference 2024
True North’s much anticipated Drive for a Difference 2024 Golf Tournament a success!
Despite the challenges of the rainy & windy weather, supporters joined True North on September 20th at the Strathmore Golf Course for a day of fun & advocacy as True North wound down the summer season with their annual charity event!
For 31 years, True North has been working to interrupt the cycle of abuse in our communities through three main branches of service:
- Emergency Shelter (which also houses our 24-hour Crisis & Support Line).
- Outreach services (Adult’s-Outreach and Children’s-Outreach) that “reach out” into the community to support vulnerable individuals at all stages of their journey.
- Community Early Intervention Programming & Education, designed to increase awareness and decrease tolerance of violence and abuse.
But none of this could be possible without the continued support of our community!

Driving for Change
In our last fiscal year, True North received 1, 959 calls to its 24-hour Crisis & Support line, which led to over 1000 shelter admission requests.
Of those shelter admissions, over 60% of True North’s clients were children, who would end up receiving nearly 3,000 hours of trauma-informed programming.

It was with great excitement that True North announced the return of its Drive for a Difference Golf Tournament!
This year marks True North’s 30th year serving its community! Since its inception, True North has been dedicated to supporting individuals impacted by domestic violence through education, prevention, reduction, and crisis intervention. True North’s annual Drive for a Difference golf tournament brings the community together for a day of fun & advocacy to help raise funds for their essential programs and services.
A Beautiful Day for Golf
July 7th at the Strathmore Golf Club turned out to be a beautiful day for golf, games, raffles, dinner, prizes, awards, and good ole’ fashion fun! Truthfully, the True North staff has been blown away once again by our community’s loyalty, dedication, ambition, and drive to help us interrupt the cycle of abuse.

Drive for a Difference 2022
Thanks to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and team of sponsors, we welcomed over 90 golfers to the Strathmore Golf Course for a day of beautiful weather, smacking balls, and working together to raise money for the crisis society. Getting together to meet with members of our community was the highlight of this event; we are so grateful to everyone who participated in making Drive for a Difference so much fun!
We can’t wait to do it again! We hope to see you all back on the green next summer.
