Give comfort. Empower survivors. Give hope.

In times of crisis, the simplest things — a warm hoodie, a fresh toothbrush, a backpack for a child — can mean the world.

When you donate new goods to True North Society, you help ensure that every individual and family we serve has what they need to take their next brave steps toward safety and healing.

Your generosity provides not just essentials, but a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Our Most-Needed Items

The needs of our clients change throughout the year, but some items are always in high demand include:

  • Gift cards (groceries, gas, clothing, local shops)
  • Diapers & Baby wipes
  • New hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, deodorant)
  • Cell phones (factory reset & logged out of iCloud and/or Authenticator) and phone blocks & chargers
  • School supplies and backpacks
  • Non-perishable snacks and grocery staples

Gift cards are especially appreciated as they empower survivors to shop for what they and their children need — restoring dignity and choice.

Due to limited space in the shelter, we cannot manage on-site inventory for clothing, shoes, purses, and jewelry. However, we are pleased to partner with Serendipity’s Consignment Boutique in Strathmore!

Through this partnership, you can consign your gently used, excellent-condition clothing and accessories under True North’s account at Serendipity’s.

When your items sell, the funds are put into True North’s account.

In turn, True North clients are provided with Serendipity’s gift cards to shop and choose their own clothing!

This is a win-win program: our partnership with Serendipity’s supports local businesses and allows our clients a sense of dignity and power to shop for themselves.

True North is also proud to partner with Lil Hoot’s Children’s Consignment in Strathmore.

Similar to our Serendipity program, you can consign your excellent condition used clothing and accessories under Lil Hoot’s general donation account!

When your items sell, the funds are put into the donation account.

In turn, True North works with Lil Hoots staff to provide True North clients donation funds, so parents and children can choose clothing for themselves!

Please contact Lil Hoots if you have any questions!

Please note due to space limitations, we cannot accept furniture, appliances, or household goods at our shelter.

However, families leaving our programs are referred to:

The Hope Covenant Church/Step One Program (403-934-2424)

The Calgary Women in Need Society (WINS) (403-255-5102 ex. 203)

Please contact these organizations to arrange a possible donation of items. Thank you!
