16 Days of Activism Aginst Gender Based Violence
From November 25 to December 10, join True North Society and communities around the world in the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Violence isn’t just an issue somewhere else; it’s here, in Strathmore. In Canada, a woman is killed by her intimate partner every 6 days (StatsCan, 2019).
Every purple light, every ribbon, and every voice raised says, “We see you. You matter.”
When you take part, you’re not just raising awareness, you’re fueling life-changing programs at True North that help families rebuild every single day:
- A safe bed when someone has nowhere else to turn.
- A voice on the help line at 2 a.m. when fear takes over.
- A counsellor helping a parent and child heal together.
- Education that prevents the next generation from repeating the cycle.
Your participation shines a light for survivors and powers the services that save lives.

Digital & Tech-facilitated Gender-Based Violence
This year the United Nations is campaining to UNiTE: End digital violence against all women and girls during the 16 Days of Activism.
“Technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) is when technology (such as a smartphone, computer, Smartwatch, or a Smart home device) is misused to commit violent abusive acts such as domestic violence, harassment, stalking, sexual assault, impersonation, extortion, and the non-consensual filming and sharing of intimate images.” Tech Safety Canada
